As the holiday season approaches, we’re reminded of the importance of community and the power of lending a hand to those in need. Dryer Fire Fighters is honored to sponsor Townsquare Media’s 8th Annual Food Drive, happening Friday, November 15th, to support the Tri-Cities Food Bank. Join us at the Grocery Outlet in Kennewick from noon to 6 p.m. and help us fill the Tire Factory truck with non-perishable food items for families in need.

Since 2017, this food drive has directly added over $22,000 and more than 17,500 pounds of food to local families. As we approach the winter months and holiday season, this effort takes on an even greater significance, and we’re inviting the entire Tri-Cities community to be part of it.

Why Giving Back Matters

For many, the end of the year is a time filled with warmth, family gatherings, and celebrations. But for some, it’s a time of struggle, especially as winter brings additional expenses and challenges. Supporting the less fortunate in our own community means ensuring that every family can experience the joy and comfort that the season brings. A single food item might seem small, but collectively, donations make an enormous difference, allowing families to feel supported and nourished during this time of need.

Paul, Dryer Fire Fighters’ dedicated sponsor of this food drive, has always believed in giving back at the local level. For Paul and his family, engaging in community efforts to support those less fortunate is just a part of what they do, no matter the season. There’s a special significance in extending a helping hand close to home. Paul often says that while large-scale efforts are valuable, there’s a different feeling when you know your support is helping neighbors, friends, and families within our own neighborhoods.

Local Impact: Why It’s So Important

The Tri-Cities area has been a wonderful place to grow and build businesses, but we also recognize that times can be tough for many. There’s a misconception that hunger is a distant issue, but in reality, it’s much closer than we think. Families with young children, elderly residents, and individuals who may have fallen on hard times all rely on community support to bridge the gap. Supporting local food banks is one way we can create a stronger, more resilient community for everyone.

This annual food drive highlights the strength of the Tri-Cities community. By coming together, we ensure that the impact reaches not only individuals but also the fabric of our community as a whole. With every dollar donated and every food item collected, we’re making a difference in the lives of our neighbors. Knowing that the food bank will have well-stocked shelves brings peace of mind to families as they prepare for winter, a time when food and heat are basic but crucial needs.

The Holidays: A Season for Generosity and Community

The end of the year often inspires us to think of others, especially those who may be going through challenging times. Food insecurity is something many of us may not experience firsthand, but during the holiday season, we’re reminded of the comfort that a warm meal can bring. For families in need, receiving support from the community not only meets immediate needs but also fosters a sense of connection and kindness.

While it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season, a simple act of kindness—a donated can of soup, a box of pasta, or a bag of rice—can make a world of difference. It sends a message that we care, that we’re looking out for each other, and that no one has to go through hard times alone. The holidays remind us to slow down, reflect, and think about how we can share the spirit of giving with others, knowing that these small actions add up to something truly impactful.

The Role of Community Support

Local support like this food drive also inspires others to step up. When one person contributes, it often sparks a ripple effect, encouraging others to give as well. Paul and his family have found that joining in these local efforts is deeply rewarding, not because it brings attention, but because it reminds them of the shared humanity and resilience within our own neighborhoods.

At Dryer Fire Fighters, we believe that businesses have a responsibility to give back to the communities that support them. By being part of the food drive, we’re able to give thanks in a meaningful way—one that goes beyond words. For Paul and his family, the food drive is not just an event; it’s a reminder of the values they hold close: compassion, community, and care for others.

How You Can Make a Difference

We’d love for you to join us in making this year’s food drive a success. Here’s how you can participate:

  1. Donate Non-Perishable Food Items
On November 15th, bring canned goods, rice, pasta, and other non-perishable items to the Grocery Outlet in Kennewick. From noon to 6 p.m., the NewsRadio 610 KONA team will be broadcasting live to cheer on donations as they fill the Tire Factory truck. Every item counts, and no contribution is too small.
  2. Monetary Contributions
If you’re unable to make it to the event, consider making a financial contribution directly to the Tri-Cities Food Bank. Cash donations allow the food bank to purchase items in bulk, ensuring that families receive fresh and nutritious food.
  3. Spread the Word
Share the event with friends, family, and neighbors. The more people who know about the food drive, the greater our impact can be. Post on social media, share with your workplace, or simply talk about it with those in your circle.

Join Us on November 15th

There’s a special energy in the air at events like these. You’ll feel the camaraderie as people from all walks of life come together to help. At Dryer Fire Fighters, we’re looking forward to seeing the community unite for such an important cause. We know that the contributions gathered will go a long way toward making the holiday season brighter for countless families.

As the Tire Factory truck fills with donations, you’ll witness the spirit of giving come to life. It’s a beautiful reminder that each of us has the power to make a positive difference, no matter how big or small the contribution. We’re not just providing meals; we’re providing hope, comfort, and the reassurance that our community is here to support each other, not only during the holidays but all year round.

In Closing: Gratitude and the Spirit of Giving

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported the Townsquare Media Annual Food Drive over the years and to all who will contribute this year. Your generosity and community spirit are what make the Tri-Cities such a wonderful place to live and work.

This food drive isn’t just about donations; it’s about showing up for one another, about knowing that together we can weather any storm. For Paul and his family, participating in this food drive is simply part of who they are—individuals committed to making life a little easier for their neighbors and creating a stronger, kinder community.

So, on November 15th, please join us. Whether you’re dropping off a bag of canned goods, donating online, or simply spreading the word, every act helps make a difference.
